200,000 Liters of Crude Oil Leak from Pipeline Near Brandenburg Refinery

A significant crude oil leak occurred in Brandenburg, Germany, when approximately 200,000 liters of crude oil escaped from a pipeline near the PCK refinery in Schwedt. The Brandenburg Ministry of the Environment confirmed the incident, which caused oil to spurt from the pipeline for about two and a half hours before the leak was largely sealed around 7:45 p.m. According to reports from Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg and the Märkische Oderzeitung, the crude oil release created a fountain reaching up to twelve meters in height. The accident happened just a few kilometers northwest of the PCK refinery, raising environmental concerns due to the large volume of oil discharged into the environment. Cleanup efforts and further investigations are expected following the incident reported on December 11, 2025.
