BSC Young Boys Face Lille in Europa League; Virginius to Play Against Former Club
BSC Young Boys will face Lille OSC in the Europa League on Thursday, a match that holds special significance for midfielder Alan Virginius. Virginius, a 22-year-old French player, is one of three footballers who have played for both clubs. He joined Young Boys last summer on loan from Lille before the Swiss club signed him permanently for around 2.5 million euros. Under coach Gerardo Seoane, Virginius has logged 73 minutes in this Europa League season, all since Seoane took charge. The Young Boys require at least one victory in their remaining group matches against Lille, Olympique Lyon, or VfB Stuttgart to qualify for the knockout stage. The encounter with Lille, a French northern rival, presents one of their best chances for success. The other two players who have represented both clubs are Michael Frey, currently with Queens Park Rangers in England, and Cheikh Niasse, who plays for Hellas Verona in Italy.
