Deutsche Telekom has introduced a warning system that alerts users to potential fraudulent calls by displaying the message “Caution, possible fraud!” on smartphone screens. This warning appears when calls come from numbers identified as unreliable or fraudulent in a dedicated database, whether the calls originate domestically or internationally.

Earlier, Vodafone activated a similar system in May, which has issued 50 million alerts since then. Fraudulent calls often stem not only from within Germany but also frequently from countries like the Netherlands, Austria, Italy, and the United Kingdom. Meanwhile, O2 Telefónica, another major mobile network operator in Germany, has yet to implement such a system.
