Further Ukraine talks in Florida; Putin reportedly ready to meet Macron
Additional discussions regarding a peaceful resolution to the Ukraine conflict are underway in Florida. Russian negotiator Dmitrijew recently met with U.S. officials in Miami. Ukrainian and European representatives, including German Chancellor Merz’s foreign policy advisor Sautter, are expected to participate. A meeting involving US special envoy Witkoff and politicians from Britain and France is planned. However, no talks are scheduled between German and Russian sides. Reports suggest U.S. intelligence warns that Russian President Putin aims to conquer all of Ukraine, contradicting statements by former U.S. President Trump who believed Putin wanted to end the war. Meanwhile, Kremlin spokesperson Peskov confirmed Putin’s willingness to engage in dialogue with French President Macron, contingent on mutual political will. The French presidency acknowledged this, noting they will determine the best approach in the coming days. Macron emphasized the importance for Europeans and Ukrainians to revive talks with Putin to end the conflict.
