Russia, Ukraine, and US Hold Constructive Peace Talks in Miami
Peace negotiations involving Russia, Ukraine, and the United States have taken place in Miami, Florida, aiming to find a resolution to the war in Ukraine. Russian envoy Kirill Dmitrijew described the talks as “constructive,” with discussions continuing over the weekend. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Selenskyj praised the progress and expressed support for a new broader discussion format involving European partners. The US delegation included special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, son-in-law of former President Donald Trump. Despite these developments, Russian presidential adviser Yuri Ushakov dismissed rumors of direct high-level meetings and rejected Ukrainian and European proposals as unhelpful for long-term peace. Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed willingness to talk with French President Emmanuel Macron, contingent on mutual political will. Additional incidents included a drone with a Russian flag flying over Kyiv, which Ukrainian authorities are investigating, and Selenskyj’s firm rejection of Putin’s demand for new Ukrainian elections involving Ukrainians living in Russia.
