Major Fire in Ofenbach: Horse Stable Completely Destroyed
A horse stable with several stalls and an adjacent hay storage caught fire in full blaze on Sunday midday.
No injuries were reported, and the horses housed in the stable were safely evacuated in time.
The fire broke out around 12:45 p.m. By the time the first emergency responders arrived, the fire had already spread throughout the entire stable. The owner managed to remove all horses from the danger zone before the fire brigade arrived.
Multiple fire brigades from the region responded with a large contingent, totaling about 70 firefighters from the volunteer fire brigades of Ofenbach, Frohsdorf, Kleinwolkersdorf, Lanzenkirchen, Haderswörth, and Wiener Neustadt, supported by a breathing air vehicle from Wiener Neustadt.
The fire was fought both by an interior attack under heavy respiratory protection and a comprehensive exterior attack. After containing the fire, extinguishing operations continued into the afternoon, including the use of a special vehicle to target embers in the hay storage.
Emergency medical services and police were also on site. No information on the extent of the material damage is currently available. The cause of the fire is under ongoing police investigation.
