Bavarian Authorities Uncover Major Darknet Fraud Network with Austrian Assistance

    نقلاً عن Bayerischen Behörden

News Brief: Bavarian law enforcement has dismantled a vast Darknet fraud network, linking over 373,000 domains to a single source. The operation, named ‘Action Alice,’ revealed disturbing child exploitation schemes.

After five years of investigation, Bavarian authorities announced the discovery of a significant fraud network in the Darknet during a press conference in Munich. The operation, dubbed ‘Action Alice,’ identified more than 373,000 domains, a substantial portion of the active Darknet, associated with prepayment fraud involving child exploitation imagery. Victims were lured with real abuse images, but payments yielded no returns. Some domains had alarming names, while others offered credit card numbers. The servers used for this operation were rented in Germany, with 105 identified. The network has been active since 2019, with Europol coordinating international efforts. The Vienna Complexity Science Hub assisted in identifying the mastermind and over 400 customers.
