Germany’s Federal Ministry of Economics announced a new general permit that simplifies the export of specific arms to Gulf states and Ukraine. This regulation allows exporters to obtain faster export approvals without prior applications to the Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control (Bafa). Federal Minister of Economics Katherina Reiche emphasized that this decision is a ‘sign of solidarity’ in light of Iran’s indiscriminate attacks on Gulf nations, which have created an urgent need for air defense systems in the region.
