Nearly 400 vessels are trapped in the Persian Gulf, affecting around 6,000 sailors due to escalating tensions.

According to the International Maritime Organization, approximately 400 ships have been unable to leave the Persian Gulf since the onset of the Iran conflict six months ago. While some vessels have managed to depart, the majority remain stranded, posing significant risks to their crews.

The organization has reported 70 attacks on international ships in the region since the conflict began, resulting in the deaths of 19 sailors. The Secretary-General of the IMO, Arsenio Dominguez, emphasized the dire security situation, particularly for the innocent sailors caught in this turmoil.
