Alice Weidel and Tino Chrupalla Re-elected as AfD Leaders
Alice Weidel and Tino Chrupalla have been re-elected as co-leaders of the AfD at the party congress in Erfurt.
During the AfD federal congress in Erfurt, Alice Weidel improved her vote share to 81.3%, while Tino Chrupalla received 70.05%, a decline from two years ago. Both leaders faced no challengers and were mutually nominated, with delegates favoring the continuation of a dual leadership.
Weidel criticized Chancellor Friedrich Merz, claiming he makes empty reform announcements, while Chrupalla asserted the party’s ambition to govern. The congress, which runs until tomorrow, also features elections for twelve other board positions amidst ongoing protests outside.
