Apple AirPods Pro 3 Adds Live Translation Feature in Europe with iOS 26 Update
Apple has introduced a new live translation feature for select AirPods models in Europe, enabling real-time language translation directly into users’ ears. This long-awaited functionality, previously unavailable due to regulatory reasons, is now accessible with the latest software update. When both conversation partners wear compatible AirPods and activate the feature on an iPhone 15 Pro or newer with iOS 26, voices are translated live, supported by active noise cancellation to enhance focus on translated speech. Even without AirPods, users can see live transcription on their iPhone screen in the partner’s language. Currently, the feature supports multiple languages, including German, English, French, Spanish, Italian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Portuguese. Translations are processed locally on the iPhone, ensuring privacy and performance. The live translation functionality requires AirPods Pro 3, AirPods Pro 2, or AirPods 4 (ANC), iPhone 15 Pro or newer, iOS 26 or later, Apple Intelligence enabled, and the Translate app installed.
