Bundestag Committee to Decide on €50 Billion Defense Projects
The Bundestag’s Budget Committee is set to make decisions regarding defense projects amounting to over 50 billion euros. These projects include the expansion of the Arrow 3 missile defense system, acquisition of additional Puma infantry fighting vehicles, satellites, and protective gear for soldiers. Defense Minister Pistorius stated in Berlin that the procurement of new weapon systems for the German armed forces is advancing swiftly.
The opposition criticized the volume of proposals, with the Green Party’s security policy spokeswoman, Nanni, emphasizing that it is impossible to review these systematically and thoroughly within such a short timeframe. Meanwhile, the defense policy spokesman for the CDU/CSU parliamentary group, Erndl, insisted that the parliament must act promptly and avoid causing delays.
