DeZIM Cluster Advances Innovative Research Methods and Data Access
The DeZIM Institute plays a key role in grounding public debates on migration and integration in rigorous scientific research through its Cluster Daten-Methoden-Monitoring and Research Data Center (FDZ). This cluster develops and tests innovative survey methods and provides expertise across the institute, ensuring high-quality data collection and analysis. The FDZ archives and documents research data, making it accessible to both internal researchers and the wider scientific community to support monitoring and knowledge transfer.
The cluster is organized around five pillars covering data archiving, metadata management according to FAIR principles, survey infrastructure via the DeZIM.panel, methodological quality assurance, and experimental design through the DeZIM.lab. Tools such as the browser-based MIND.set platform facilitate cognitive testing integrated into online surveys. Since 2023, the cluster also organizes the DeZIM Summer School for research methods, fostering methodological skills. Services include comprehensive methodological advice available not only to DeZIM staff but also to society, policymakers, and public administration, supporting empirical research from design to data analysis.
