EU Launches Initiative to Distribute Free Interrail Tickets
The European Union has initiated a program offering over 40,000 free Interrail train tickets to young people across Europe.
The application portal opened at noon, requiring participants to complete a general knowledge quiz about the EU. Applications will be accepted for the next two weeks, after which tickets will be randomly allocated. Approximately 7,000 tickets are reserved for young individuals from Germany. Winners will be able to travel for free by train throughout the EU between July 1, 2026, and September 30, 2027. The ‘Discover EU’ initiative, launched in 2018, has attracted over 1.9 million applicants, with around 432,000 tickets issued to date.
