During a meeting in Washington, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul emphasized the critical importance of the transatlantic partnership with the US.

Wadephul highlighted that the partnership is essential for global stability, especially during times of significant upheaval, and acknowledged existing irritations in transatlantic relations ahead of the NATO summit in Ankara.

He also confirmed ongoing negotiations between the US and Iran regarding mutual attacks, while expressing Germany’s readiness to assist in maritime security operations in the Strait of Hormuz.
