DRB Managing Director Rebehn highlighted that many public prosecutors are chronically understaffed, leading to premature case dismissals and rendering political assurances of protection ineffective. The federal government is currently drafting legislation aimed at enhancing protection against digital violence, which includes proposed penalties of up to two years’ imprisonment for the creation and distribution of fake pornographic images, known as deepfakes.
