Germany to Automate Child Benefit Payments for Families
نقلاً عن Familien: Kindergeld soll bald automatisch kommen
News Brief: The German government plans to implement automatic child benefit payments for families with young children, reducing bureaucratic hurdles. The initiative is expected to eliminate 300,000 applications annually.
The German Cabinet has introduced a bill to automatically disburse child benefits to families, aiming to ease the financial burden during the early stages of parenthood. Currently set at €259 per month per child, the automatic payment process will begin in March 2027 for parents with older children, followed by first-time parents in November 2027. Eligibility requires at least one parent living and working in Germany, and authorities must have access to the family’s bank account information. However, families with more complex situations, such as those receiving citizen’s income or living abroad, will still need to submit applications. Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil emphasized the government’s commitment to reducing unnecessary paperwork for new parents.
