Nicmer Evans, a political scientist and head of the independent online platform Punto de Corte, has been taken into custody by Venezuela’s domestic secret service in Caracas. His wife confirmed the detention, stating that Evans was asked to attend a meeting without a judicial order. Previously, in 2020, Evans was imprisoned for over seven weeks before being pardoned alongside other political detainees.
