Liverpool Honors Deceased Player Diogo Jota in Emotional Ceremony

Liverpool paid an emotional tribute to former player Diogo Jota before their Premier League match against Wolverhampton Wanderers. Jota, who played for both clubs, was honored with his sons Dinis and Duarte walking onto the Anfield pitch alongside LFC captain Virgil van Dijk.

The ceremony also included the unveiling of a mural near the stadium, depicting Jota forming a heart with his hands, with the inscription “Forever 20.” Following his death, Jota’s number 20 has been retired by Liverpool. Jota, who was 28, died in a car accident in Spain in July, along with his brother, just two weeks after marrying Rute Cardoso.

Liverpool went on to defeat Wolverhampton 2-1 in the match, with German player Florian Wirtz scoring his first league goal for the Reds.
