The protests follow a previous draft law that triggered the largest mass demonstrations in Lithuania since its independence in 1990, which was ultimately withdrawn. Today, Bundestagspräsidentin Klöckner is scheduled to visit Lithuania for political discussions in Vilnius and a tour of the Bundeswehr base in Rukla, following her recent trip to Estonia.
