The popular Münster ‘Tatort’ crime series featuring Jan Josef Liefers and Axel Prahl will continue to entertain viewers for several more years. The WDR broadcasting council has approved the actors’ contracts extending through 2028 and 2029. This approval was necessary due to the project’s cost exceeding two million euros.

Since its debut in October 2002, the Münster ‘Tatort’ episodes with lead characters Frank Thiel (Axel Prahl) and Professor Karl-Friedrich Boerne (Jan Josef Liefers) have consistently attracted millions of viewers. The series is known for blending crime drama with comedy, contributing to its long-standing success. The first-ever ‘Tatort’ aired in November 1970 under the title ‘Taxi nach Leipzig.’
