Nearly Half of Germans Donated Over €14 Billion for Charity in 2025

According to a study by the Institute of the German Economy, nearly half of the population in Germany donated for charitable causes in 2025. Total donations amounted to over 14 billion euros, marking an increase of almost 13 percent compared to 2024. On average, each donor contributed 415 euros. Despite economic uncertainties, willingness to financially support social causes has grown. The study also revealed regional differences: Baden-Württemberg led with an average donation of approximately 569 euros, followed by Bavaria and Hesse. Saxony-Anhalt recorded the lowest average donation at around 200 euros. These findings highlight continued public commitment to social engagement even amid challenging economic conditions.
