Authorities carried out a series of raids across five German states targeting individuals accused of supporting the banned extremist group known as ‘Artgemeinschaft.’

German police conducted coordinated raids in multiple locations across Saxony-Anhalt, Berlin, Brandenburg, Lower Saxony, and North Rhine-Westphalia early this morning. The operation targeted individuals allegedly involved in the continuation of activities linked to the far-right group ‘Artgemeinschaft,’ which was outlawed in 2023 for promoting extremist ideologies.

The investigation centers on 15 suspects who stand accused of aiding in the operation of the banned organization. Local and state criminal agencies were heavily involved in the crackdown, with law enforcement searching properties in several towns, including Lippstadt and locations within the Lippe and Höxter districts in North Rhine-Westphalia. Police officials have confirmed the raids were part of an ongoing effort to dismantle far-right networks operating covertly.

The ‘Artgemeinschaft – Germanic Faith Community for Living True to One’s Nature,’ as the group was formally known, was banned in 2023 by Germany’s then-Interior Minister Nancy Faeser, who cited its sect-like structure and deeply racist, antisemitic beliefs. Although the group challenged the ban, Germany’s Federal Administrative Court upheld the prohibition in April 2023. Despite this legal decision, authorities believe its members have continued their activities, warranting today’s large-scale operation.
