RB Leipzig Nears Agreement to Sign Ørjan Nyland as Peter Gulácsi Departs

RB Leipzig is reportedly close to finalizing the signing of Norwegian goalkeeper Ørjan Nyland as a replacement for the departing Peter Gulácsi.

Reports from Sky Germany and Fabrizio Romano indicate that RB Leipzig is nearing an agreement to acquire Ørjan Nyland, who is available on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract with Sevilla. The 35-year-old goalkeeper is expected to serve as experienced backup to first-choice Maarten Vandevoordt. Concurrently, Gulácsi, who has been a key figure for Leipzig, is set to conclude his tenure with the club by transferring to La Liga side Villarreal, with Leipzig anticipated to receive a fee of approximately €2 million. Nyland’s potential return to Leipzig would mark his second stint with the club, having previously played there during the 2022/23 season, where he made only two Bundesliga appearances before leaving at the season’s end.
