A suspect linked to a violent incident at Berlin’s Christopher Street Day was shot dead by police during an operation.

Following a suspected Islamist attack at the Christopher Street Day (CSD) event in Berlin, police shot and killed the suspect during an operation in Spandau. The suspect, identified as Abdul Ballout, reportedly attacked officers with a knife before being shot. Despite attempts at resuscitation, he succumbed to his injuries.

Authorities are currently awaiting DNA confirmation for identification. Federal Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt stated there is no ongoing threat following the suspect’s death, but further measures are being considered. The incident has raised questions about previous judicial leniency towards the suspect, who had a history of criminal activity.
