Two men are missing following a traditional Christmas swim at the beach of Budleigh Salterton, England, in the English Channel. The incident occurred on the morning of the first holiday amid stormy conditions.

Police reported that the men, aged approximately 40 and 60, have not been found since Thursday morning. The Coast Guard concluded its search operations on Thursday evening, though police remain present at the scene.

Several individuals were rescued from the water early Thursday. An area resident described the day as “very cold and windy.” Other Christmas swimming events in parts of Southern England and Wales had been canceled due to a weather warning.
