UK to Fully Rejoin Erasmus Program Starting 2027
The UK government has announced that more than 100,000 young British people could benefit from the Erasmus program in its first year of rejoining in 2027. Thomas Symonds, the British minister responsible for EU relations, described the Erasmus Plus agreement as a significant gain for youth. The European Commission called the UK’s return a major step forward. Since leaving the European Union in 2020, the UK has not received Erasmus funding.
Each year, hundreds of thousands of students across the EU participate in the exchange program, receiving financial support for their study abroad semesters. The announcement marks a renewed collaboration between the UK and the EU in educational exchange.
