UNICEF highlights plight of Ukrainian children with subway classroom in Berlin

UNICEF has set up a temporary classroom in the Berlin U-Bahn station Alexanderplatz to draw attention to the difficult situation faced by children in Ukraine. Many students in Ukraine attend classes in subway stations and bomb shelters, especially in frontline areas where schools remain closed. Approximately one million children and adolescents are forced to learn exclusively online or through hybrid models due to the ongoing conflict.

German Development Minister Alabali Radovan emphasized that Russia is depriving Ukrainian children of the most essential thing: a safe and carefree childhood. According to UNICEF, since February 2022, over 3,120 children have been killed or injured in Ukraine. This year alone, 340 educational institutions were destroyed, with a total of more than 1,600 damaged or destroyed since the war began.
