Indirect talks between the US and Iran in Qatar have reportedly achieved ‘positive progress,’ according to mediators.

The United States and Iran have made ‘positive progress’ in indirect negotiations held in Qatar, according to statements from Qatari and Pakistani mediators. The discussions, which concluded in Doha, focused on follow-ups to the framework agreement reached two weeks ago aimed at ending the ongoing conflict involving Iran. Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Majed al-Ansari, announced the developments on the platform X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday.

Both sides have agreed to continue discussions ‘in the near future,’ with the next round of talks expected to take place after the mourning ceremonies for the late Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The ceremonies are set to begin on July 4 in Tehran and Qom, with the burial scheduled for July 9 in Khamenei’s birthplace, Mashhad. The negotiations in Qatar build upon outcomes from a summit held last week in Bürgenstock, Switzerland.
