Sven Schulze, CDU’s top candidate in Saxony-Anhalt, has challenged the media’s depiction of AfD leader Ulrich Siegmund while addressing key differences in their political stances.

Saxony-Anhalt’s CDU frontrunner, Sven Schulze, has openly criticized a magazine cover branding the AfD’s Ulrich Siegmund as Germany’s ‘most dangerous man.’ Schulze described the depiction as ‘absurd’ during a conversation on a popular podcast, stressing the importance of how German politics and the region are portrayed by national media.

The CDU candidate pointed to Siegmund’s policies as the true concern, highlighting positions such as advocating for citizen militias instead of strengthening law enforcement and dismantling school requirements in favor of outdated societal views. Schulze argued these positions fail to address modern challenges, particularly in security and education. He expressed strong opposition to what he describes as Siegmund’s regressive stance on women’s roles in society.

Schulze also addressed his absence from a previously proposed podcast debate with Siegmund, citing logistical issues rather than avoidance. He explained that his campaign priorities played a role in declining to travel to Cologne for the recording, emphasizing that he had proposed alternative locations and schedules which were not accepted. Schulze maintained that such debates must align with practical considerations during the election period.
