Survey Reveals 67% Support for Higher Wealth Tax in Germany
A recent YouGov survey shows overwhelming public backing for the proposed increase in the wealth tax.
According to a new survey conducted by YouGov, 67% of respondents support the proposed increase in the wealth tax, while 20% oppose it. The survey, which included 6,200 adults in Germany, indicates that 41% fully support the reform, and 26% are somewhat in favor.
The coalition of the Union and SPD plans to raise the wealth tax rate to fund an income tax reform, proposing a rate of 45% for incomes over €250,000 and 47% for those over €280,000. Currently, the highest rate is 45% for incomes starting at €277,826. The coalition aims to provide approximately €10 billion in annual relief, primarily benefiting low to middle-income families.
